Download Gala 2012 Prospectus here.

The Randolph County Community Arts Center is accepting submissions to its 11th annual Gala Juried Art Exhibition to be held September 7 - 27, 2012.

The deadline for entries is a postmark date of July 6, 2012 and the exhibit is open to all artists over 18.  Original two and three-dimensional works completed since January 2009 and not previously exhibited in the Great Hall of RCCAC are eligible. Acceptable media include painting, sculpture, photography, clay, fiber, wood, glass, or metal. More than $1,000 in prizes will be awarded.

The juror for this exhibit is Michael Christie. Christie’s family has called West Virginia home since the 1700’s.  His early exposure to the country gave him an affinity for nature.  His talent was greatly enhanced by studying at the Maryland Institute of Art and the Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore, MD.  Christie traveled and painted in Europe, living for a time as a caretaker of a chateau in Joigny, France.  In spite of loving things European, he and his wife and children decided to return to West Virginia.

Christie’s artwork has been collected internationally. In 1988 he was a featured artist in American Artist Magazine. His work has been seen in numerous group exhibitions and in solo exhibitions at the Hoorn Ashby Gallery in New York City. Christie was the WV Absolut Vodka artist in an international campaign in 1994.  He was the Artist in Residence at the Greenbrier Resort from 2009 - 2011.  His work is in a permanent exhibit in the Oak Bar, The Greenbrier Casino, The Greenbrier Resort, White Sulphur Springs, WV.  Christie lives and maintains a studio in Lewisburg, WV.

Entry fees are $15 for up to three artworks for RCCAC members, and $30 for up to three artworks for non-members. Artists whose work has been accepted by the juror will receive entry labels and detailed instructions with their notification letter.

Artists should submit one image for each piece of artwork entered and up to three pieces of artwork may be submitted per artist. The format may be slides or jpegs on disc. For three-dimensional work, the artist must submit two views of each piece.

Make checks payable to: Randolph County Community Arts Center and mail to RCCAC, P.O. Box 3111, Elkins, WV 26241.  RCCAC will collect a commission of 20 percent for all sales.  Artists may list their work NFS.
