The juror for this exhibit is Michael Christie. Christie’s family has called West Virginia home since the 1700’s. His early exposure to the country gave him an affinity for nature. Christie traveled and painted in Europe, living for a time as a caretaker of a chateau in Joigny, France. In spite of loving things European, he and his wife and children decided to return to West Virginia.
Christie’s artwork has been collected internationally. In 1988 he was a featured artist in American Artist Magazine. His work has been seen in numerous group exhibitions and in solo exhibitions at the Hoorn Ashby Gallery in New York City. Christie was the WV Absolut Vodka artist in an international campaign in 1994. He was the Artist in Residence at the Greenbrier Resort from 2009 - 2011. His work is in a permanent exhibit in the Oak Bar, The Greenbrier Casino, The Greenbrier Resort, White Sulphur Springs, WV. Christie lives and maintains a studio in Lewisburg, WV.
