2010 Forest Festival Juried Art Exhibition September 10-29, 2010

Call for Entries!

The Randolph County Community Arts Center is accepting submissions to the annual Juried Art Exhibition during the Mountain State Forest Festival to be held October 6 to November 18, 2010. The event will be hosted by the RCCAC and the Seneca Trail Artists Guild and is sponsored by Parrack Insurance.

Hand-delivered entries only may be submitted and works will be accepted between 1- 3 p.m. Saturday, October 2 at the Arts Center, located on the corner of Randolph Avenue and Park Street (former St. Brendan Catholic Church).

The exhibit is open to West Virginia residents 18 years of age or older. Students in grades K-12 are asked to please check “Student Show” on the entry form. All works must have been created in the last two years.

All works meeting guidelines will be exhibited during the Festival. Works juried in to the extended exhibit will hang through November 18. All forms of painting, drawing, collage, hand-pulled prints and sculpture will be accepted. Works must not have been exhibited in a previous Forest Festival Art Exhibit or RCCAC/Great Hall exhibit.

All work must be original fine art, no copies or computer generated art. Hanging work is not to exceed 4x6 feet; sculpture weight limit, 40 lbs. All entries should be family friendly. All paintings, including student work, must be framed, suitably wired for hanging with identification labels attached to back and under glass or Plexiglas, if applicable. Works with saw-toothed hangers will not be accepted. Oil paintings on stretched canvas should be wired and have finished edges. No exceptions.

The juror will be Jean K. Gill of Virginia, an artist and educator. 2010 marks her 19th year as a watercolor instructor for Fairfax County Public Schools Adult and Community Education program. She has served on the Board of the Virginia Watercolor Society, as an officer of Potomac Valley Watercolorists, and as chapter president of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Honor Society of Professional Women Educators. She is a member of AWS and NWS.

Entry fees are: $30 for non-members, a non-refundable fee for two entries; and $15 for Seneca Trail Artists Guild and Randolph County Community Arts Center members, a non-refundable fee for two entries. Student Show entries are $2 each.

The exhibition prospectus may be requested by mail, picked up at the RCCAC office or downloaded at www.randolpharts.org.

This year’s exhibition is sponsored by the Randolph County Community Arts Center and the Seneca Trail Artists Guild, Parrack Insurance and the Mountain State Forest Festival.

The RCCAC, a non-profit organization promoting and supporting the arts in Randolph County and the surrounding areas, is located at the corner of Randolph Avenue and Park Street in Elkins. The RCCAC is supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the National Endowment of the Arts and the West Virginia Division of Culture and History.
