An art educator for over 20 years, Jo Gaston received her bachelor’s degree in art from Missouri State University and her master’s degree from The Colorado College.
Jo, a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, creates watercolors of ranch and garden subjects she has known since childhood. The realistic details of her paintings make her subjects easily recognizable. While presenting subjects realistically, however, she uses light and color freely to intensify her impressions of the abstract forms inherent in those subjects.
Her work has been shown in many regional and national juried shows such as the Grand National Rodeo Celebration of Western Art - San Francisco, Texas Watercolor Society International Exhibition, and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club Exhibition – New York. She is a past president of the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society and a signature member of the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society, the Kansas Watercolor Society, and the Northwest Watercolor Society.
Watercolor Workshop led by Jo Gaston, “Creating Dynamic Watercolors with Three Cs”, September 11th and 12th. Level: Intermediate to advanced. Cost: $125 (20% discount for RCCAC members)
