Sturm promoted to Development Coordinator
Randolph County Community Arts Center Executive Director Beth King recently announced the promotion of Debbie Sturm, RCCAC Administrative Coordinator, to RCCAC Development Coordinator. Sturm joined the Arts Center staff in August 2010 and has a long-standing volunteer history with the Arts Center.
Sturm was raised in Elkins, graduated from Elkins High School, and later did coursework at Davis & Elkins College.
She worked at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins for a number of years, and then went into the field of real estate. Sturm has been a Realtor since 1998, and earned the GRI (Graduate REALTOR Institute) and ABR (Accredited Buyer’s Representative) designations. She worked at Propst Realty as well as Busch, Zurbuch and Thompson law firm as a legal secretary focusing on real estate for several years.
As Development Coordinator at the Arts Center, Sturm will assist with coordinating fundraising activities, the membership program, donor appreciation activities, writing grants, as well as managing the office. This position is funded in part by a Staff Development grant through the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
King notes, “In just one short year, Debbie has developed a keen sense for the workings of the Arts Center. She brings a great combination of skills to this position that will help the Arts Center develop and nurture our base of supporters and help us grow support for our general programming. Debbie has terrific attention to organization and detail while maintaining her creative flair. We were thrilled she agreed to accept the role of Development Coordinator.”
“I am often amazed at the number of local residents who are unfamiliar with the workings of the Arts Center,” notes Sturm. “My focus in the New Year will be to showcase the quality programming we offer, the intrinsic value to the community and the ongoing need for monetary and volunteer support of the arts.”
Debbie resides in Elkins and has a son, Judd.
