RCCAC Raises Money with Silent Wreath Auction

Six area florists and artists have designed wreaths to decorate the Great Hall of the Randolph County Community Arts Center for the holiday season and to raise money for the Arts Center.

Silent bidding on the wreaths opens on December 2nd at 11:30 a.m. as the doors open for the Arts Center’s Annual Holiday Arts Market.  The wreaths will be on display though December 17th.

Bid numbers may be obtained at any point during the auction period by contacting the RCCAC office. Bidders may call the office and check on their bids or stop by the RCCAC office between 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday as well as at the many December events at the Arts Center.  The highest bidders may collect their wreaths following the  Candlelight Concert with Jack Gibbons  on Saturday, December 17th.

The following florists donated their talents in the fabulous wreath creations: Dodd’s Florist & Greenhouse, Jodi Hart, JoJo’s Floral & Bridal, Kathy’s Decorating & Design, Mary’s Greenhouse, and Tammy’s Floral & Bridal Gallery.

“We appreciate the contribution of each of these businesses and artists to our Holiday Wreath Silent Auction.  Their generosity will provide the Arts Center with an additional opportunity to raise much needed funds for programming and to continue our work of providing an artistic outlet for residents of Elkins and the surrounding areas,” noted Debbie Sturm, RCCAC Development Coordinator.

Sturm continues, “Proceeds from the silent auction will help fund the Arts in Education program as well as our Outreach Program to area schools.” The Randolph County Community Art Center’s Outreach Program provides live performance and workshop activities with artists and musicians in the Evening Concert Series and the Family Concert Series. Last year, performers from both of these series provided more than 21 performances and workshops for over 3,000 school students and nursing home residents.  RCCAC teachers have also provided outreach art activities to the YMCA after school program, the Elkins Park and Recreation Department Summer Program as well as numerous after school groups, Brownie troops and Scout groups throughout the region. All of these outreach activities are funded by Concert Series underwriters, the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, West Virginia Commission on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour (PennPat), and contributions from the businesses and individuals in the community.2011 Wreath Silent Auction
