Heavy Metal
Solo Exhibition
A Chronology of the American Automobile
Nicholas Altman
My love for cars started with Hot Wheels and picture
books as a young child. I had a keen eye and would point
them out. That evolved into a desire to learn about and
work on cars. Combine that with a passion for creating art,
and here we are. I very much appreciate the whole car,
inside and out, and from close and from afar.
“Heavy Metal” showcases American cars from the era of
leaded fuel and steel body panels; the days of less
government regulation on safety and emissions. Between
the 20s and the 70s the American automobile has gone
through some distinct body style changes most should be able to recognize.
