A note from the artist: Most of my generation read the Outsiders in high school, where we were introduced to Robert Frost’s “Nothing Gold Can Stay”. The short but powerful poem has been a part of me, guiding me with it's light. Light is ephemeral and therefore elusive, and I surround myself with it's power, shaping my art. If light is my medium, glass is my material. Drawn to the more ethereal translucent fluidity of glass, I strive to convey that sense of place by capturing its fleeting light.
There is an unwillingness of glass to be transformed, yet light will transform glass for just a moment. That is the elusive quality that I strive to capture in my work. But it's impossible to capture light in glass, so I create my glass to be captured by light.
My current work is an exploration of transparency and texture. Using light and color, I design and create one of a kind functional and sculptural artistic glass. Bold colors and off-beat arrangement defines my work while working with depth and line to shape the imagination.
