Revisiting Penpoctura a solo exhibition by Kevin Woodcock
Art Reception is Friday, February 2, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm.
“I created these paintings and prints based on places I have visited in the area known to a few as Penpoctura. Penpoctura is a place made up of the four counties of Pendleton, Pocahontas, Tucker and Randolph. These counties contain some of the Monongahela National Forests most treasured areas such as; Spruce Knob, Seneca Rocks, Canaan Valley, Dolly Sods Wilderness, Cranberry Wilderness and my personal favorite, Otter Creek Wilderness. I often seek refuge from the daily world’s turmoil and troubles to be at peace in these places. I can focus on the simple joys of watching fish swim in a clear brook , looking at a waterfall or witnessing the sun light make the leaves glow green, red, yellow or orange. Penpoctura is a place to go to recharge your mental and internal battery so to speak. This place has given me so much inspiration to create artwork.”
