Weaving Stories: A Community Fiber Arts Show and Tell

Arthurdale Heritage Inc. and West Virginia Folklife invite you to participate in a community show and tell event at The Arts Center in Elkins on Saturday, February 8 th from 1:00 - 4:00PM. This event will take place during the traveling exhibition, Interwoven: The Fiber Arts Legacy of Arthurdale. Interwoven features historic woven textiles from the region, including those of the Mountain Weavers Guild. In honor of the exhibit, this show-and-tell-style event celebrates those who are carrying on fiber arts traditions!

Please bring an example of your work and be prepared to share with others stories about yourfiber arts practice. Participating attendees will have the opportunity to meet and learn fromone another. Light refreshments will be available.

During the event, we will have a station set up for recording oral histories for those who wish to have their stories recorded and preserved for the ongoing Mountain Weavers Guild archival and ethnographic survey project.

The exhibit and the ongoing research project are both supported by grants from the Central Appalachia Living Traditions program of Mid Atlantic Arts.
