Lina Arnold

Lina Arnold moved to the United States 12 years ago, and resided in Tucker County, WV  for 10 years. Lina attended the College of Applied Arts in Lithuania where she studied fashion design. She continued her studies at the Academy of Arts where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. Lina prides herself on her plethora of artwork, including but not limited to: crocheted jewelry, home decor, tie-dye pictures, fiber arts, and wire jewelry.

“I started to crochet this type of jewelry in 2006-2007. The idea began as an assignment in the Academy of Arts- create an old, ancestry type of crocheted jewelry as my ancestors had done before me. Finding examples proved difficult, but I discovered some old pictures that acted as my example. The pictures showed the jewelry to be done in a rough, archaic style, with flax/linen thread and amber beads– my country has a seashore of the Baltic Sea and Amber is our gold. The most used threads include synthetic, cotton, cotton with metallic, synthetic with metallic, and linen. Beads most commonly used are glass, crystal, rocks, cultured pearls, seashells/mother of pearl, half gems, and amber. This artwork is attractive to the eyes and makes you want to touch it!”
