Maggi Rhudy

“Growing up in Berlin, Germany, I was lucky to have very creative people in my life. In Toledo, Ohio, I attended the University of Toledo and graduated with a BA in Art and a MA in German, and am certified in both fields. The richness of German literature, and the visual arts provided for me a way to appreciate the value art brings to life. Having moved to Elkins with its beautiful mountains and natural surroundings, I also found a way to learn new and different ways of artistic expression.

Teaching for ArtsBank in the Elkins elementary schools, and later as art teacher at Elkins High School, I had the opportunity of introducing young people to the many ways of artful expression. I continue teaching courses at the Randolph County Community Arts Center in Elkins, WV.

The joy of making things that I love and which can again give joy to others is very satisfying. I am most inspired by nature and have been studying local wildlife and wildflowers, which I like to depict in my work” - Maggi Rhudy.
