Pysanky - Egg Dyeing Workshop
Friday, March 28th
5-7PM
Allergy Warning: Pysanky utilizes eggs and bee’s wax.
Class requires 6 students minimum to run.
$5 Supply Fee to instructor for additional supplies she is bringing.
Students will explore the traditional Ukranian egg dyeing - Pysanky. Participants will use pencil and paper to draw traditional folk designs, then copy the designs onto the egg using warm bee’s wax for the wax resist dyeing method. All supplies will be provided.
This is more of a traditional content-based class, although students will leave with a completed egg. We will be learning about the art of Pysanky while creating a Pysanka egg.
Instructor: Kylie Proudfoot-Payne
Hot Tips: We will be working with warm bee’s wax and dye. Appropriate clothing or an apron is encouraged.
Parking: Parking is available in front of Elkins City Park. Please do NOT park in Broughton’s lot.
Location: 2 Park Street, Elkins, WV. In the Maxwell Gallery.
